Amazon Narrows Field for Second Headquarters Location to 20

Amazon has said its preferences for the site include a metropolitan location with a population of more than 1 million, mass transit, proximity to an international flight hub and the potential to retain and attract technical talent.

STATEMENT FROM PGHQ2 ON AMAZON’S ANNOUNCEMENT

(PITTSBURGH – Nov. 13, 2018) – On behalf of the regional partnership that submitted Pittsburgh’s proposal to host HQ2, we thank Amazon for considering us for its second headquarters and congratulate New York City and Arlington, Va. on being selected as the headquarters locations. We also congratulate Nashville, Tenn. on being selected as the location for a new Amazon Operations Center of Excellence.

Pitt to Launch Innovation Lab, Makerspace in Homewood

The University of Pittsburgh will open an innovation lab and makerspace in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. The Manufacturing Assistance Center Makerspace, located at 7800 Susquehanna St., will feature small business development courses and will be equipped with a laser, 3-D printers, woodworking and a soft textiles area.
